After finding one of his childhood drawings, Alex is suddenly plagued by nightmares of "The Sleepyman".
Seeking to rid himself of his night terrors, Alex turns to a hypnotherapist. Playing the role of his subconscious, you will need to help Alex figure out what's causing his nightmares...before it's too late.
It's 1:50 in the morning and I'm going to bed hoping I won't have any nightmares. Not because the room I just played was bad or so scary that I fear for my sleep; no, it's because the theme of night terrors lends itself to it and has planted a seed in my subconscious.
Tonight we played in a Canadian escape that offers 3 themes at the moment.
As often we will connect to zoom 15 minutes before the beginning of the game, this is where we will communicate with our Avatar (Game master : Owen and Sam aka Alex), but we will also need to connect to a google drive and the venue offers you to put on background music (in a quiet and dark room... everything for the immersion!).
I really liked putting the music in the background. We played at 11pm local time, so playing at night, in the dark with good background music is really "creepy".
On the google drive we discover the documents (audio and texts) that plunge us into the narration. Meanwhile the avatar screen is off. When I played I got caught up in the game. I set up a nice chair in front of my desk. I turned off the lights, put on the music and let myself be carried away by the voice that told us about the different events.
I think it was really the narration and its development that I enjoyed the most.
But for once that doesn't mean that the riddles have been abandoned. They were rather interesting, original and surprising. If we take into account that we are in Alex's mind with his nightmares, then they make more sense.
This is a room that speaks to your brain more than your emotions. There are actually no moments of fear or even anxiety for us. But here there is a very subtle feeling of uneasiness that sets in, that slowly creeps into your subconscious and takes root there.
It is very well done. You should also know that this adventure lasts 75 minutes, which removes a little of the stress side of time.
