An old legend tells that one of the King's ships carrying priceless treasure was attacked by the dangerous Pirate Francis Decker on the Caribbean coast.
Several centuries later, divers returned the wreck of the pirate ship near an unknown island.
The old legend is attracting the lust of adventurers from all over the world.
Find the legendary treasure before anyone else. You only have one hour before the French Navy arrives on the island!
Well, you know what? Normally I wouldn't have to write this article, because this is not an escape!
Elivehunt that we discovered thanks to a Moroccan escape sign: The DoorZ seemed to offer an online escape. They currently offer 3 adventures.
Well we got screwed, I don't know who's at fault and I'm not going to accuse anyone. I thought it was a video room with an avatar acting for us in the room, but after a few minutes we'll understand that it's not. It's a hybrid form of je ne sais quoi.
But here's what's on their site:
Immersed in the scenery of an Escape Room, you will have 60 minutes to complete your mission: you will have to dig, communicate well with each other to pool clues and solve puzzles together.
And of course, just like in a real escape game, a "Game Master" will be at your side to help you throughout the game.
There's something to be mistaken...
We meet Bens, our GM by screen, but we won't see him for a long time because he will tell us to download an application. He'll assign us each a nmber and leave. Here we are sitting in front of an image on the computer. With the application we scan the image on the screen, we give each other the information and we find a password that we enter into the phone. You'll understand that there is no avatar here, just an online game with an application. The DOJ sends hints if needed on the main screen. Five puzzles and the game's over.
Of course there is a need to cooperate, but in the end as there is each time only need 3 infos (doubled for the 4th, 5th and 6th player) the whole thing is strange. Besides, the puzzles were (in our opinion) not really interesting.
We'll end up after 40 minutes quite frustrated to have waited for something else. The price also does something about it, because 15€ per person is more than what you pay for some games with avatars, whereas online games of this style cost between nothing and 15 euros per game and often last more than an hour.
Besides, after a few minutes we realized that we were filmed throughout the game, which I find unacceptable without having been informed. As I pointed out, I will only be told at the end that it is for analysis afterwards. It's not okay.
Moreover on the site it is mentioned that the game is available in English, French, Russian etc... but at least the application was, when we played it, only in French.
I tried to stay as neutral as possible, but... I'm ENERVED!
Well, see you soon for better I hope.
+ We enjoyed +
- We didn't like -
For who?
Why play it?
