Uncle Alex needs urgent help from Escapers: he became addicted to games, and his wife wants to divorce him. If he doesn’t get help, he will soon lose his mind. Open your secret game room as soon as possible and kick Hothead Jack out of his life forever.
Today, we decided, to discover a new small brand that moved to Vienna in May 2019.
This room: Hietzinger Jack already exists in Ukraine and Israel and is moving to Vienna. In the 2nd district, not far from a subway, with sometimes a few parking spaces in the street, and "hidden" in the basement of a residential building, the sign: Escapers. It is a pity that it is not more visible from the street, because located on a busy street, it would gain in visibility.
We took advantage of a very advantageous offer on a discount site and therefore called to make a reservation.
It was the same young man we had on the phone, who received us with a smile. He explains the basic rules to us, nothing surprising, and then explains that his uncle has started gambling. And now he has disappeared. He seems to have a secret, but what is it?
Then he invites us to go to his uncle's house... he even allows us to take our bags with us, but let's admit it, it would be very strange. So we put down our things and go... First of all, we are destabilized by the few things we find here. But there is the attempt to create a story that, when more developed, could be very interesting.
The excavation is complex, because it is mostly a matter of observation here and I warn you, observe in detail.
The beginning is not at all linear and it is very interesting. It's a room where records can be based on observation and the proper distribution of tasks.
Our progress is in any case quite fluid with various puzzles without being very innovative and then all of a sudden there is a real wow effect. It really impressed me, nothing technically infeasible, but just very cool. And that's when we discover the other side of the coin, the reason for the change in Uncle Alex and it will be up to us to "fight" Jack.
Unfortunately the room becomes more linear from there. There were 3 of us and 1 person waiting for the others to move on.
We came out after 42 minutes having defeated Jack. At the end there is still a little playful game to win a token, but luck was not with us.
The manager takes a picture of us and tells us about the next duel room that will open soon.
In summary: This room without padlock is based on mechanisms, one of which is really surprising. The non-linear beginning could have continued until the end to keep everyone busy. The puzzles are not very numerous, but diverse enough not to annoy the players. In any case it is a very nice room which amused us a lot.
